What is the process of ordering custom bridal gowns on line?
Darius Cordell is a fashion architect that specializes in couture evening gowns, mother of the bride dresses, pageant wear and formal wedding gowns.
Most clients are baffled and do not take in how to , purchase and receive a made to order designer dress without trying it on or beholding it in person. This article will show you the simplicity of doing just that.
First thing is since we are the real designer and not a typical bridal shop your options with us for evening gowns, mother of the bride dresses or wedding gowns are entirely different. With us you can have any one of our designs made however you want with any changes to the actual design. We also welcome custom dresses as well where we will sketch your ideas for blessing or we can work from photos that you submit to us for examples.
When considering a made to order designer gown you can not have an off the rack mentality about the purchase. For instance most people think they need to try on a dress in order to determine if the cut or design will work for them. This is not always the case – in particular when dealing with custom evening dresses and bridal gowns.
For example, when you try on that ball gown or special occasion dress in the store many times it will not “fit” or look good on. The reason for that is simple – that off the rack item was not made for you or your specific body shape. This is why you will hear many people say that formal dress looked great on the hanger but when I tried it on it looked atrocious on me. Well since it was not made specifically for you that is the reason why. Where as all of our designs can be made to measure according to your exact body shape, size, length and dimensions. For instance two women who are both size 8 can try on the same exact garment and it look ok on one and not ok on the other. It could be because of trunk length, depth of back, length of neck, bust size, etc… This is why for formal dresses it is best to have something made for your body rather than picking something off the rack.
What you will also find is that a typical bridal shop will order a size from the designer size chart. They can then have you come in and charge you for “fittings”. Since we are the designer we do not force you to order from a size chart. We cut to the chase and allow you to have your bridal gown or evening dress made to your shape. Regardless of if you are plus size, petite, special tall or whatever – our extensive personal measurement form takes care of all unique sizes and shapes.
So what we tell all of our darius cordell couture customers is to figure out what it is they want and to ask themselves a series of questions. They would need to ask themselves what part of my body do I want to cover? What part of my figure do I want to show? What part of my frame do I want the item to be fitted and what part do I want to be lose? Or have I worn this neck line before, and if so did I like it? Have I work a skirt like this before, and if so did I like it? Once you answer these questions (forgetting about what the item may look like when you try it on) you can then decide on which item in the picture best meets your personal preferences (either as shown or with changes). Like some people may like a strapless bridal gown but need a short or long sleeve added to cover a scar. Or say one person may want a tea length dress or cocktail dress as an alternative of a long skirt – even although the gown is shown as an a-line ball gown skirt. Whatever the changes you need it is not a problem. In either case, once you communicate to us the style # that meets your specific needs (as shown or with changes) we then make that item for you in your exact measurements. Once the item is accomplished and your balance is paid we ship the merchandise to you. Many clients over the past 10 years have been amazed at how well their item fits their body and how pleased they are with their pick. Keep in mind there is not a huge difference from ordering direct from the designer vs. ordering from a typical bridal salon. You communicate your order request to the bridal store in persona face to face. Then the bridal store will submit your order info to the designer. The only difference when you purchase direct mail order is YOU communicate your order request using other forms of effective communication like email, fax, mail or phone. The words and their meanings do not change when spoken. So the same data is being communicated. Then the only other difference is instead of the wedding salon submitting the order info to the designer YOU are submitting it to the designer yourself.
Once you contact us for more information you will find that we have perfected a system for choosing colors and materials as well. In short you can either communicate the color and fabric you want, submit an example or submit the actual yardage. Allowing the consumer these options makes the ordering process much easier and gives the customer many more choices so they can have the dress made like they want and need.
So as you shop or shop the cyberspace for after five evening wear, wedding dresses or other very special occasion dresses please keep this information in mind.
We at Darius Cordell Inc hope to produce a couture piece for you very soon.
